NEWPORT, R.I. — Central Falls junior María Franco Gomez scored three goals in the second half as the Warriors beat Rogers 3-0 on Friday night at Macomber Stadium.
Rogers had 11 players available and no substitutes, according to unofficial statistics, meaning every Viking on the roster played all 80 minutes.
The teams were even through the first half, with both controlling stretches of play, and went to the break scoreless. Rogers sophomore Nayely Catalán, making her first start in goal, made four saves in the half.
Franco Gomez broke through three times after the interval. Senior Jeymi Hernández Cante assisted on the third goal.
Rogers freshman Shanelle Castro stood out for the Vikings, controlling the ball and generating shots on goal while pressuring the Central Falls defense.
